What’s the difference if I add a pump with my portable gas monitor?
Portable gas monitor instruments are typically operated in a passive (diffusion) mode or in an aspirated (pumped) mode. What the difference if I add a pump with my portable gas monitor? How do I know is it better than the other?
This is a common question that we always can hear from others, for the answer,I think its depend on which place you need to test.
In my opinion,I believe that a pump is necessary if you need to test the deep place gases, and the pump is easy for operators.
For the normal Gas Detect,it just can use the normal place,it suitable for use in open areas and people can put it in the bag or take it in the hand, when the air is exceed the standard level, the Gas Detector will alarm and tell worker the air is not safe.So worker should take measures to low the dangerous and protect their safe from poisonous.
However, the gas detector with pump can use anywhere, especially when the test place that worker can not go inside, then the pump gas detector is very necessary, Confined space regulations require that atmospheres of confined spaces are tested prior to entry and to do that requires a pump to draw the air from within the space out to the instrument.
You can see its details in the following picture.
