O2 Detector

1.Brief introduction

The two-wire loop oxygen O2 detector is an instrument used for real-time monitoring of oxygen concentration in the environment. It usually employs electrochemical sensors to calculate the concentration by measuring the current generated from the electrochemical reaction of oxygen. The sensor signal will be converted into a standard 4-20mA current signal through the built-in transmitter. Its two-wire design combines the power line and the signal line into one, enabling simultaneous power supply and signal transmission with just two wires.

The core of the two-wire gas detector is based on the 4-20mA current loop technology, which converts the detection signal into the standard 4-20mA current through two wires for transmission. In oxygen detection, 4mA usually corresponds to 0%VOL concentration, and 20mA corresponds to the full scale 30%VOL. The controller converts and displays the specific concentration value based on the received current value. The sensor types of two-wire detectors are limited. The working current is limited by the static power consumption of the 4-20mA loop, so it is mainly suitable for sensors based on electrochemical principles (for detecting toxic substances and oxygen), and is not suitable for sensors based on higher power consumption principles such as catalytic combustion, infrared, and PID.

The oxygen detector and the matching control panel together form the core gas monitoring system in the industrial site. The transmitter is responsible for front-end detection, while the controller serves as the brain at the back end, handling data processing and instruction issuance. The two work together to achieve a complete protective closed loop from detection , alarm , linkage to record.

2.Features:

(1).Low installation cost: Only two wires are needed to supply power and transmit signals simultaneously, which can save about one-third or more of the wiring cost and significantly reduce the installation workload.

(2).Strong anti-interference ability: It adopts standard 4-20mA analog current signal transmission, which has strong anti-attenuation and anti-electromagnetic interference capabilities, and the stable transmission distance can usually reach 1000 meters.

(3)Safe and reliable: The flameproof design is generally adopted, meeting the high-grade explosion-proof standards Ex d IIC T6, ensuring safe operation in flammable and explosive environments.

Industrial safety: In industries such as petroleum, chemical engineering, and metallurgy, it is used to monitor the oxygen concentration in areas like storage tank zones to prevent oxygen-deficient or oxygen-enriched environments caused by gas leakage.

Confined Spaces: Before entering enclosed spaces such as mines, tunnels, and underground pipe galleries, oxygen concentration tests must be conducted first to prevent asphyxiation accidents.

Process monitoring: During production processes such as electrolytic water hydrogen production and biological fermentation, oxygen content is monitored in real time to control process quality.

5.Maintenance

Long-term use of sensors can cause zero drift, leading to inaccurate readings. Therefore, o2 detector regular calibration is necessary. It is recommended to perform zero calibration in clean air. Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to calibrate every 3 to 6 months. In harsh working conditions such as high humidity and dust, calibration should be carried out once every 1 to 3 months.
