Gas detector is mainly composed of sensor,PCB board and other components. we put them into the two main parts: the sensor and the body part, so here we talk about the service life based on above two parts.

First: the sensor life.
The sensor has a fixed service life. The service life of the sensor varies with different principles. For example, the electrochemical sensors usually have two years service life and need to be replaced after two years, the service life not havs nothing to do with using times and storage method, because for the electrochemical sensor, the internal is electrolyte, during the storage it will naturally reduce, so it will be consumed even if you don't use.So it has a fixed replacement cycle. So we recommend users do not need to prepare the sensor in advance until use.
The second part is the circuit board:
From this point of view, generally reliable circuit designed with sufficient materials can guarantee the service life of the fuselage for 3-5 years.we refer to normal use, non-rough operation, discarding and other bad and irregular preservation and operation. Some portable gas detectors include suction pumps and batteries that last about two years.

As for the service life of the gas detector, generally speaking, there will be no problem with the circuit board under normal use. In most cases, it is the sensor life is out of date that causes the instrument failure. Therefore, the service life of the gas detector is equal to the service life of the sensor. The service life of the electrochemical sensor is about 2 years. After 2 years, the performance of the instrument needs to be tested and the sensor needs to be replaced.
