In order to make the methanol alarm detector work normally and effectively play its early warning role, the following aspects should be paid attention to during installation and use:
1. Matters needing attention when installing methanol alarm detector
(1) The methanol alarm detector is a safety instrument with sound and light display functions. It should be installed in a place where the staff can easily see and hear it, so as to know the situation in time.
(2) There should be no strong electromagnetic fields (such as high-power motors, transformers, etc.) that affect the work of the instrument around the methanol alarm detector. If it cannot be avoided, shielding measures should be taken (shielded wires can be used).
(3) The installation height of the alarm display device is generally 1.6 ~ 1.7m, which is convenient for maintenance personnel to carry out daily repair and maintenance work on the alarm device.

2. Problems should pay attention to when install
(1) The detector mainly uses the detection element of the contact hot wire sensor. The element is a spherical shape composed of a platinum wire coil covered with alumina and an adhesive, and the upper surface is attached with rare metals such as platinum and palladium. When installing, be sure to handle and put it gently, so as not to break the probe.
(2) The specific gravity of the gas to be measured is different, and the installation position of the probe is also different. Installation of indoor probe: when the density of the gas to be measured is less than that of the air, it should be installed at a distance of 30cm from the roof, with the probe pointing downward; on the contrary, when the density of the gas to be measured is greater than that of the air, the probe should be installed at a distance of 30cm from the ground.
(3) Installation of open-air detectors: The installation height can be selected according to the density of the gas to be measured. In particular, it should be noted that the probe should be installed on the leeward side.
(4) The detector should be installed near the possible leakage point and as close as possible. Especially in the dead corners where methanol is easy to accumulate, be sure to install the probe, and avoid the wind blowing the probe directly.
(5) The connecting cable should wear a protective sleeve. Add a metal hose to the wiring of the probe, and pay attention to the explosion-proof mark level consistent with the factory explosion-proof requirements.
(6) After installation and debugging, be sure to install a breathable waterproof cover to prevent rainwater from entering the probe and damaging it. The breathable waterproof cover should be removed and cleaned regularly to ensure the normal diffusion of methanol into the probe.

3. Problems that should be paid attention to when calibration
(1) The standard sample gas that has been certified by metrology and matched with the monitored gas shall be used. Different measurement media, the selected standard sample gas is different, and the alarm points are also different.
(2) Before calibration, there should be no methanol in the surrounding environment of the detector. If there is, first remove the rain cover, fill in a certain amount of clean air, adjust the zero point, and then continuously inject the sample gas to ensure the accuracy of the calibration.
