Smart Shopping With LED Bulbs

A start-up company, ByteLight, has come up with an idea that will make in-store shopping easier. Their idea consists of smart phones, Apps, GPS and LED lights. With all the talk of LED light bulbs containing technology to sync with WiFi and Bluetooth for home lighting uses, this particular idea should not come as a surprise.

According to the this article, the company has figured out a way to define a relationship between LED light bulbs and the GPS systems found in most smart phones. Since lighting manufacturers can now link LEDs to WiFi and Bluetooth, the light bulbs can use this technology to sync up with GPS systems in mobile devices. The App will allow individuals to look up the product they are searching for, and may even provide coupons, and thus lead them directly to where that specific product is located in the store.

This system is not only beneficial to shoppers, but to the retailers, as well, by opening up a whole new opportunity of advertising. It will allow retailers to send ads and coupons through the Apps straight to the consumer’s phone. The App can then track and measure the effectiveness of such advertising tactics. It will also let those retailers that lack in the advertising success department, to gain a better reach and possibly increase sales.

It seems that LED light bulbs are becoming the light bulb of the future. They not only emit a better light than incandescent bulbs, but they provide a number of purposes that one would have never imagined a light bulb could do.
