Measures to prevent hydrogen sulfide poisoning

Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless and highly toxic acidic gas. It is an inorganic compound. It has no obvious smell at high concentrations, has a strong smell of rotten eggs at low concentrations, and has a sulfur smell at extremely low concentrations. It is a common chemical in many industrial processes. By-products, such as those produced in the natural gas refining, petroleum refining, wastewater treatment and paper industries.

Hydrogen sulfide is toxic to the human body at low concentrations, and inhaling high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide can quickly lead to death. Therefore, hydrogen sulfide detectors are needed in industrial production to detect hydrogen sulfide leaks in real time to ensure the safety of production personnel.

How to prevent hydrogen sulfide poisoning during production?

1. Production equipment that generates hydrogen sulfide should be sealed as much as possible, and hydrogen sulfide gas detectors should be installed for on-site continuous detection to ensure the personal safety of production personnel.

2. Wastewater, waste gas, and waste residue containing hydrogen sulfide must be purified and discharged only after reaching emission standards.

3. When entering closed containers, pits, kilns, trenches and other workplaces where hydrogen sulfide may be present, you should first measure the hydrogen sulfide concentration in the place, take ventilation and detoxification measures, and confirm safety before proceeding. The hydrogen sulfide concentration should be measured continuously during the operation.

4. During operation, take personal protective measures and equip yourself with anti-gas equipment (gas masks are generally used for escape and self-rescue), and workers should tie a rescue belt or rope around their waists. To ensure mutual protection, at least 2 people must be present.

5. Personnel suffering from hepatitis, kidney disease, or bronchitis are not allowed to engage in operations in contact with hydrogen sulfide.

6.Strengthen employee training on professional safety knowledge and skills, and improve self-protection awareness and capabilities.

7.Install a fixed hydrogen sulfide gas detector:The hydrogen sulfide gas detector is used to detect the real-time concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the air and issue an alarm in time when the concentration exceeds a certain level.
