EX stands for Low Explosion Level, which refers to the content of flammable gas capable of causing an Explosion, known as the lower explosion limit (Low Explosion Level), abbreviated as LEL. The low alarm value of the EX gas detector is usually set at 25%LEL of the lower explosive limit, and the high alarm value is set at 50%LEL of the lower explosive limit.
If EX is displayed on the alarm instrument's screen, it indicates a flammable gas that is a flammable and explosive gas. Correspondingly, there is usually %LEL (Lower explosive limit percentage) as the measurement unit. For instance, methane, acetylene, biogas, oil gas, ethanol and the like all fall under the category of flammable gases.
If there is an "Ex" on the label of the casing or packaging, it does indeed indicate explosion-proof. However, if it is displayed on the screen, it indicates a flammable gas, that is, a flammable and explosive gas. Correspondingly, there is usually a percentage of %LEL (Lower explosive limit) as the measurement unit.
The "EX" on the four-in-one gas detector mainly refers to the lower explosive limit, which is mainly used to measure flammable gases. In some specific environments such as mines, underground, and dusty environments, the sparks and conductivity generated by equipment can cause gas explosions. The four-in-one gas detector shows the percentage of flammable gas per cubic meter in the measured environment. The fixed and portable combustible gas detectors produced by our company play a significant role in industrial safety production. The product features are as follows.

1.Fixed combustible ex gas detector (online type)
1) Detector (probe) : Installed at the on-site hazardous point, it is equipped with an internal catalytic combustion sensor to collect gas concentration in real time and output 4-20mA/RS485 signals.
2) Control panel main unit (alarm controller) : Installed in the duty room, it centrally displays the concentration of all points, real-time data, and historical records. It can be linked to exhaust fans, solenoid valves, sound and light alarms, fans, sprinklers, and cut-off gas valves.
Power supply: AC220V constant power, 24-hour uninterrupted operation.
2.Portable combustible gas detector (handheld inspection type)
Single combustible EX detector;
The four-in-one multi-gas detector (EX combustible gas + CO (carbon monoxide) + H₂S (hydrogen sulfide) + O₂ (oxygen)) is often used for daily inspections.
Power supply: Large-capacity lithium battery, fully charged, can be used continuously for 8 to 24 hours, ready to use after charging.
3). Core features
The compact body is easy to hold and portable, allowing it to be carried around in confined Spaces and narrow corners for inspection.
It is equipped with an internal air pump (pump suction type)/diffusion type, which can be extended into pipelines, underground Wells, and closed compartments for sampling and testing.
It is equipped with a built-in sound, light and vibration alarm system, which will immediately alert the operators if the on-site standard exceeds the limit.
It comes with built-in data storage and can export inspection records for security check acceptance.
